Through our program Future Leaders of Amphibian Conservation and in partnership with the First Global Amphibian and Reptile Disease Conference (GARD), the Amphibian Survival Alliance (ASA) will fund one emerging amphibian conservationist to attend the conference (University of Tennessee, USA, 4-10 August, 2022).

If you are a young amphibian conservationist working on infectious diseases, consider applying for a Travel Grant to attend the conference. You can find all the details and application form here.

The purpose of these travel grants is to encourage diverse participation in the 2022 GARD Conference, especially by those with limited financial resources. These awards primarily target early career researchers (students, early career professionals). Special consideration in awarding grants will be taken to maximize diversity of attendees based on geographic location, ethnicity, gender, stage of career development (student, early career professional), and financial need.

The ASA Future Leaders of Amphibian Conservation is an annual award to a number of individuals in the early stages of their careers who have evidence of contributing to successful conservation initiatives in the past, and who wish to conduct or continue with a particular conservation project or research agenda that will directly improve the survival of amphibians in the wild. We are particularly keen to attract applications from delegates in developing countries and from minority groups.

It is our intention to provide Future Leaders with the tools to build a support network of experts, organisations and funders that will help them achieve their conservation goals and, most importantly, become the next generation of prominent researchers in amphibian conservation.

Applications should be made directly on the GARD webpage, and the ASA will help to review applications and select one person that fits our criteria of eligibility. Besides having their costs to attend the meeting covered by the ASA, the person will be recognized as an ASA Future Leader of Amphibian Conservation.

The deadline to submit applications is 13 May 2022.

Please help us spread the word about this opportunity and encourage the young conservationists you know to apply. Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions ([email protected]).

Future Leaders of Amphibian Conservation scholarships are awarded in memory of Dr. George B. Rabb (1930-2017), a great supporter of amphibians and all those who care for them.
