Dear ASA partners and friends,

Please have a look at the following opportunities:

1) EDGE Protected and Conserved Area Fund. ASA partners Rainforest Trust, Zoological Society of London and other NGOs launched a new fund aimed at safeguarding Evolutionarily Distinct and Globally Endangered (EDGE) species. These species have few close relatives on the tree of life and are often extremely unusual in the way they look, live and behave, as well as in their genetic make-up. Check if your species apply here. The fund will provide grants to local Civil Society Organizations that are focused on creating or expanding protected and conserved areas for EDGE species across the tropics and subtropics. Feel free to get in touch with me if you need more information or if you need support with your application.

2) Amphibian Week (May 7-13, 2023). Organized by Partners in Amphibian and Reptile Conservation (PARC) with support from ASA, AW is an event to increase awareness about amphibians and to celebrate all things amphibian. We encourage all ASA partners to engage in AW. Have a look at the program here. We are especially interested in receiving videos for the ‘Meet An Amphibian Biologist’ series, where we will highlight the work of ASA partners and Future Leaders. Get in contact with me if you want to participate.

3) Salamander Saturday (May 6, 2023). This is an initiative started and organized by ASA partner Foundation for The Conservation of Salamanders (FCSal) to raise awareness about salamanders, their habitats, and their role in the ecosystem. FCSal encourages organizations around the world to hold an event (online or in person) on May 6. Your Salamander Saturday event should be catered to your organization’s strengths and schedules; it can be as simple as hosting an education table, or as involved as a fundraising event. If you would like to participate in Salamander Saturday, please get in contact with us.

4) Key Conservation platform. The mission of ASA partner Key Conservation is to create a streamlined way for conservation organizations to gain real-time critical support from people around the world. The Key platform, available on mobile and desktop, enables organizations to reach out directly to individuals to receive three kinds of support: funding, skilled professional support. ASA has recently co-organized a webinar where Megan Cromp, Director of Key, presented the platform and all its features. Join Key today and, in case you missed, make sure to have a look at the webinar recording here.
