We’re pleased to welcome the Wilder Institute as a new partner of the Amphibian Survival Alliance. Based in Canada, the Wilder Institute works across North America and Africa to protect wildlife, with a strong commitment to amphibian conservation and public engagement.

One of the Institute’s flagship efforts focuses on the Rocky Mountain population of the northern leopard frog—a species at risk in Canada. Their integrated in situ and ex situ conservation program combines habitat work, captive breeding, and research to support population recovery. Over the years, the Wilder Institute has helped advance science-based approaches to understanding amphibian population dynamics, reproduction, genetics, disease, and monitoring methods.

The organization also brings their expertise to national and international platforms. Their team contributes to Canada’s Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC) and plays an active role in the IUCN SSC Amphibian Specialist Group, in addition to participating in local conservation committees.

With a mission to act for wildlife, the Wilder Institute exemplifies a science-driven and collaborative approach to conservation. We’re excited to work alongside them in support of amphibians and the ecosystems they depend on. Welcome to the ASA community!
