The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species™ is a critical indicator of the health of the world’s biodiversity. It is therefore important that assessments published on the IUCN Red List are transparent, fully documented, data-driven, and that the IUCN Red List Criteria have been applied correctly. In this webinar, the first of a new series, Resit Akçakaya (Chair of the IUCN SSC Standards and Petitions Committee) will discuss some of the common misunderstandings when applying the Red List Criteria, and how to improve the chance of your assessments being published smoothly on the IUCN Red List. In particular, the webinar will cover questions on:

  • Calculating number of locations in more complex situations.
  • The data required to project a population reduction and how to document this.
  • Use of the extinction probability tool.

On signing up you will have the opportunity to ask any specific question you would like to be covered, within these topics.

Interested, but can’t attend? You can still register and identify what Red List topics you would like to learn more about. All the IUCN Red List webinars will be recorded and the recordings will be made available on the IUCN Red List website.
