The Amphibian Survival Alliance is pleased to welcome Dr. Collin VanBuren to the ASA Advisory Committee as Strategic Youth Advisor.
Collin's connection to ASA runs deep. During his doctoral studies at the University of Cambridge, he served on the inaugural Steering Committee of the Amphibian Conservation Research Symposium and co-founded the Future Leaders of Amphibian Conservation (FLAC) program in 2015, a program that has since provided support to over 40 young conservationists from 18 countries.
After completing his PhD, Collin spent nearly four years working for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), where he advanced youth participation and inclusion in programs addressing food insecurity, economic development, climate adaptation, and biodiversity conservation. He now serves as Visiting Scholar in Vertebrate Biology at the Virginia Museum of Natural History.
In his Advisory Committee role, Collin will help ASA strengthen its support for the next generation of amphibian conservationists and deepen the connections between conservation practice and international development. His unique perspective, bridging academic research, on-the-ground conservation, and international policy, is exactly the kind of thinking the amphibian community needs as we work to address the extinction crisis.
Welcome to the team, Collin!
