Table Mountain stands isolated – an ancient, rocky beacon of biodiversity amidst the bustling city Cape Town at the south-western tip of Africa. Its fairytale gorges and tea-coloured streams are home to an iconic but elusive amphibian – the Table Mountain Ghost Frog. The Ghosts of Table Mountain reveals the secret life of the Critically Endangered Table Mountain Ghost Frog and the freshwater ecosystems it inhabits. The film (produced by Fishwater Films) explores the threats facing these ecosystems and celebrates an inspiring, collaborative effort between the Endangered Wildlife Trust, SANParks, SANBI, CapeNature, City of Cape Town and the Freshwater Research Centre to restore the mountain’s precious freshwater habitats. This conservation work and film form part of the Table Mountain Freshwater Ecosystems Project which is funded by the Table Mountain Fund and the Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund.
