Partners in Amphibian and Reptile Conservation (PARC), the Amphibian Survival Alliance and conservation groups from around the world have designated 2014 as the Year of the Salamander. Through this unprecedented partnership, organizations and individuals will work together to not just raise awareness of salamanders but also really scale up global salamander conservation, education and research efforts.
The Amphibian Survival Alliance will be working with all collaborators to raise awareness about:
- the importance of salamanders in natural systems and to humankind;
- diverse ongoing research pathways aimed at better understanding salamanders, their role in ecosystems, and threats to their existence;
- actions being implemented around the world to conserve salamander populations and their habitats;
- education and outreach efforts through a kaleidoscope of individual and group involvement.
