TGIFF!! Thank Goodness it’s FROG FRIDAY!! Today we are having a look at the beautiful Paradise Toad (Vandijkophrynus robinsoni). There is only one lonesome photo record of this lovely toad in the FrogMAP database! The Paradise Toad is a terrestrial, partially rupicolous (which means “thriving among rocks”) species that shelters in rock cracks and holes in rocky areas close to permanent or seasonal water sources.

Paradise Toads occur in the arid areas of the Richtersveld and Gordonia in the Northern Cape Province.

We definitely need more data on this toad’s geographic range so please do submit your photos to FrogMAP here. You can learn how to submit records here.

Frog Fridays celebrate the amazing diversity of frogs and toads in the southern African region. Click here to learn more about Frog Friday and the Animal Demography Unit.
