ISSCA is the International Society for the Study and Conservation of Amphibians. Created in 1982 it is the only association totally and exclusively dedicated to amphibians, a class of vertebrates which is featured by its own characteristics. For this, ISSCA promotes the science of batrachology.

ISSCA accepts the subscription and support of all individuals and organisations that are interested to study and conserve the amphibian species and communities around the World, promoting outreach and awareness. It is conviction of ISSCA that a proper knowledge and education is the key to save the amphibians, currently the most threatened terrestrial vertebrates.

ISSCA collaborates with the IUCN SSC Amphibian Specialist Group and publishes the international journal Alytes, whose topics concern all aspects of research on amphibians, in particular systematics, evolution, development, ecology and conservation.

The International Journal of Batrachology

Alytes, the International Journal of Batrachology is a scientific journal totally dedicated to amphibians. The journal publishes papers on all the aspects of biology, natural history and conservation when related to this class.

Alytes invites the submission of research articles on all the aspects of amphibian’s life history and evolution, with a particular emphasis to taxonomy, ecology, emerging diseases and conservation. The journal welcomes frontier articles which show how conservation could be done through the application of policy strategies and integrate actions. The journal requires a rigorous scientific approach, with data presented in original way. Opinion papers are also welcome, in particular when they highlight critical traits of amphibian biology and conservation.
